Real stories, Real People: Eden & Anthony

Eden & Anthony

At Carthage.Co, we love celebrating love.

We're highlighting one of our favorite newly weds. Here's a look at real people, real love, and real stories.
Meet Eden & Anthony, newly weds with a beautiful story. The happy couple registered with Carthage.Co
as a part of their wedding day. They were generous enough to share with us a little about
their new life, story, and new home.

OUR RELATIONSHIP, IN A BLURB

Silly, intense, and extremely passionate. Those things might sound all over the place to someone, and if so, that is the right idea.

We love being silly, making funny voices or joking around with stuffed animals. We're also intense and consistently discuss deep concepts. We knew what we wanted in a significant other. Within the first few dates, we covered most big topics that people tell you not to talk about at the beginning of a relationship. Even after two years together, we discuss anything and everything.

WHAT IS YOUR HOME STYLE?

My style is rustic contemporary and I love anything that is unique. Anthony’s style is dark and classic.

We did not have a set vision for our home design and had actually registered for plates at Bed, Bath and Beyond out of complacency. When we came across Carthage.co, I was instantly smitten with the style of the La Marsa collection.

It worked out perfectly because it married Anthony’s style and my style. I love neutral tones and Anthony loves dark blues, so it was perfect to match the Muslin and Adriatic plates to achieve a look we would both love.

WHY CARTHAGE.CO?

The uniqueness, the story and the design. I love that our dishes are not mainstream dishes from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I really enjoy having things that are different and unique, especially our Zaghwan pieces. Even if somebody orders the same serving bowl, it will be slightly different.

We love Carthage.Co's story. We want our purchases to be ethical and bless people at the lowest rung of the company. And we just really love the design. We just saw their new mugs and kicked ourselves that they were not available when we registered—I think Carthage will be getting a new order from us soon!

WHICH ARE YOUR FAV PRODUCTS?

We both agree: our saffron Zaghwan Serving Bowl! We know it’s supposed to be used for a nice dinner, but we use it for popcorn! It is absolutely beautiful and the perfect size to hold our popcorn. Our secret recipe is to add Johnny’s Seasoning Salt.

Anthony is from Seattle. It's like the Old Bay of the Midwest!

We use our La Marsa Salad Plates almost everyday. They're perfect for everything. I love the lipped sides for getting lettuce on my fork, but Anthony uses the salad plate as a bowl for soups and chili. He loves telling people about how the versatility of the salad plate makes it his favorite.

WHAT'S YOUR IMPRESSION?

We don’t feel like we simply bought stoneware, we feel like we are part of a vision that is full of passion.

Carthage.Co worked with us to accommodate and customize a registry that fit us. Every step of the way in our registry process, we would email Carthage.Co with questions, and they promptly helped. It was clear to us that they cared about our registry experience and wanted us to be completely satisfied with our stoneware choices!

DESCRIBE THE WEDDING IN 3 WORDS

Sacred, joyous, and unity. Sacred because we were committing ourselves to one another before God and our communities in a ceremony full of ancient spiritual practices. Joyous because we celebrated in so many ways. We laughed, danced, and enjoyed the people closest to us.

Unity because people from all areas of our life, even those who normally do not get along, came together in unity to support us in our decision and this life transition. It was beautiful to see differences of opinion and painful circumstances be set aside for such an important moment.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP WEDDING & REGISTRY TIPS?

1. MAKE A SYSTEM FOR WHEN YOU DISAGREE:

We have different styles and knew we wouldn't agree on everything for the registry. We assigned rooms for the tie breaking vote. Anything kitchen or bathroom, I got the final decision. Anything bedroom or living room, Anthony got the final decision.

2. KNOW WHATEVER YOU GET IS NOT SET IN STONE:

We switched things around throughout the process and returned a lot items so we could get what we really wanted.

3. BE CREATIVE WITH YOUR REGISTRY:

Anthony and I wanted to go camping more when we got married, but lacked the gear, so we created a camping registry—we got a tent, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, hammocks, and other fun things!

4. PRIORITIZE YOUR TOP 3

The most helpful thing we did was identifying our top 3 priorities at the beginning. Our top 3 priorities were food, photography, and venue. Those were the categories we really went for our dreams in, and everything else we settled for what we could afford and what we had capacity to make happen.
